All the Wrong Things

This was so wholesome, I almost didn’t want it to end.

This short was beautifully-paced, and uncomfortably humorous, like an episode of “Veep.”

Heartfelt and earnest, “All The Wrong Things” follows Lucy (Candace Hammer), a 28-year-old woman who’s suffering from a panic attack. Seeing her distress from afar, a stranger named Willy (Bernardo Cubria) walks over and offers a lollipop to cure her troubles.

.

And what follows is the strangest human interaction I’ve seen committed on film in quite a while…

.

.

…and it began with Lucy responding “I just had an abortion.”

.

Bruh, the pause I had. And the chuckles that I let out following.

Whew, the awkward.

This short used all the elements to its advantage:

🖤 The screenplay was sharp, and superbly-acted by Candace and Bernardo.

🖤 The editing during her panic attacks was 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾.

🖤 The intro and outro songs fit the tone of the panic attack and aftermath of the couple’s strange interaction perfectly.

🖤 The directing was beautiful.

.

I loved it!
