A few things:
Helen Mirren is a monster performer. Christ. *clutches pearls* I wasn’t really expecting much from this film, but damn. She can really bleed into a performance, man.
Great screenplay.
Cool choreo, felt ~John Wick-ish.~ (And I hate to compare, but it followed a similar formula action-wise.)
Sasha Luss was cool too. So much strength with her performance and her kickassery.
Luc Besson does well with action. And he knows how to compose a frame. He mixes the square and triangular symmetry in his composition when directing a lot, and it really worked out well with this ‘cat-chases-mouse-chases-cat’ screenplay.
The time jumps were distracting and hard to follow. I understand the scope of the film, it’s cool or whateva, but a film with so many flashbacks and flash-forwards within the first 30 minutes is an…interesting way to tell a coherent story.
