…a photo slideshow, mockumentary short with mellow, monotone narration and quintessential slideshow music (I don’t know what this means either, but when you hear it—you know). 

An intriguing recounting of a German grandfather’s life and his acclimation into the post-WWII world from his grandson’s point of view, “Bär” props up this account against graphic imagery from the War, no doubt.  The absurdity in this piece begins with the first photo and declarative sentence.

“Bär” is humorous, creative, and dark. Consideration of inventive anonymity was intentional, presumably due to his family’s violent and controversial history.  Disclosing his grandfather’s identity would’ve opened his family up to unwarranted attention, and also taken away from this project’s vibe.
