Bruh, have you ever been so tired…like, “fatigued” doesn’t even begin to cover it?
So bone-ti’ed…like, you feel like you could sleep for a week straight?
So tired.
Like, you just step foot into your dwelling, but you don’t even wanna take anything off. You just wanna collapse.
Well, “Coffin” pretty much exaggerates every nuisance an extremely fatigued person would encounter.
A noisy roommate, or three. The loud ass-ness that comes with living in the middle of an urban city.
The animators created an environment that felt like a daze and illustrated all the ways the short’s subject could not find peace.
This piece is a gorgeously detailed depiction of the subject’s euphoria perpetuated by his exhaustion, and the suffocation of feeling surrounded by nothing helpful. I loved that the setting provided a specificity to an apartment style in southern China where folks literally live on top of each other.
The palette was drenched in like a sweaty, urine-stained, grimy opaqueness that had some enduring qualities—the colors and style felt immersive, like I could physically smell the environment just by looking at the scene.
The music complemented the subject’s frustrations. I loved the conclusion!
This was a good one. I’m gonna keep a look out for the creators. Beautiful work.
