I want Zach Woods to direct everything.
Now.
“David” was so fucking smart, bro. Like how dare you?
The film opens on in a therapist’s office during the late evening, with a patient’s voicemail playing aloud over an answering machine. The next day we’re introduced to David, a patient played by William Jackson Harper, and his doctor (Will Ferrell) discussing his issues. And then…David.
The therapist’s son, also named David (Fred Hechinger), is seen riding his bike frantically towards his dad’s office window…during a session…with a patient going through a personal mental emergency.
Y’all—after the year we’ve been through, collectively, and the number of therapy hours I’ve clocked personally throughout my life, I can honestly say this is easily the funniest shit I’ve seen happen in this setting. I know and totally understand the fiction, ooooooohh but it is BOLD to do a full ass comedy in a psych’s office. And to execute it perfectly.
.
Bruh, I—I audibly hollered. 🤣🤣 I don’t know how the actors or anyone on set got this film done. I need to find the behind the scenes reel of this short.
The editing was so damn good.
The directing was impeccable.
This short profiled how framing should be specific because it helps move the narrative forward.
Not one uttered word was wasted. This was a brilliantly written piece of art.
The actors were great. At the intro, I knew I recognized Harper’s voice through the voicemail. He was so good! Will Ferrell is just effortless in his ability to glide between comedy and drama. The physically comedic moments with Hechinger were riotously hilarious.

I am sorry, this shit was good’t!!!! 💀😂🤣💀😂🤣 And I guess now we know…shouts to you, Zach Woods.
