First of all Denis Villeneuve, how dare you?
This beautiful piece of art here. And not even assurances that we’ll get Part II.
Why would you tease a nerdy shawty like me like dat, bruh?
Unreal.
Unbelievable.

Well, first I gotta give all the gold doubloons to Hans Florian Zimmer of Frankfurt. He implanted both of his foots into that damn score. Like, he said “y’all gon’ stop playin’ with me,” but in German.
That man gotta know he’s elite, right?
Majestic noises, bruh. 🤌🤌
.
GIVE HANS ZIMMER HIS THINGS, NEOOOOW!
Zimmer said “…fuck around and find out.” Whew!! 😱
.
.
.
Ok, so…”Dune.” Hmmm… 🤔🤔🤔
.
.
I needed this.
I am selfish when it comes to epics. I want them looking like crisp, tailored suits on Janelle Monáe.
.
I enjoyed the ensemble cast. As an element, they heightened the film’s epic-ness. 😊 Timothée Chalamet be collecting IMDb credits like he Djimon Hounsou. Shit, so does the internet’s boyfriend Oscar Isaac. 🤣🤣
If I’m choosing, Rebecca Ferguson as “Lady Jessica Atreides” would probably receive my trophy for acting, but my favorite character and savior was Jason Mamoa’s “Duncan Idaho.”
I really enjoy seeing Sharon Duncan-Brewster as ecologist Dr. Liet Kynes. She played her role beautifully. She’s commanding with her eyes.
I wanted to see more content from so many characters, including Stephen McKinley Henderson as “Thufir Hawat,” David Dastmalchian as “Piter de Vries,” Chen Chang as “Dr. Wellington Yueh,” David Bautista as “Beast Rabban Harkonnen,” and Stellan Skarsgård as his uncle “Baron Vladimir Harkonnen.”
I think McKinley Henderson’s parasol moment was unintentionally comedic, and reminded me of when Quentin Tarantino introduces a totally absurd prop into a scene and the screenplay just moves on like that shit isn’t there (e.g., the big ass glass boot mug in “Inglourious Basterds” or Django’s bright blue suit in “…Unchained“).
The costuming!! Bih, I need every piece. The silhouettes. The textures. I need the armor. I want pieces from each House. Each army stunted on each other. Loved the lines. Sublime work. 🤤🤤🤤
This was a film chock-full of technical element eye candy:
Cinematography—✅
Editing—✅
Sound editing—✅
Production design—✅✅ (Did y’all see those bedrooms in Calahan!!)
Special effects—✅
Visual effects—bih…
The lighting manipulations. ✅
Stunts. ✅ ✅
The fight choreography. ✅

.
The weaponry!
The languages and the code switching and assimilation, and the themes of goods-based colonialism on planets where mainly all the citizens are uhhh…different shades of uhhh brown….
The settings!
The technology!!
Oscar Issac’s beard!!
Jason Mamoa’s fine ass!!! Whew!
.
Costuming, production design, set decoration, and visual and special effects alone had to be over $80 million.
I mean look Paul’s headboard:
The details, my gawd!

Geek me needed a new futuristic fantasy to sink my teeth into. The opening credits presented this as “…Part I,” which I quite like because the story felt incomplete. There seems to be a lot of territory to explore in this world, and I want to see what Villeneuve will do with this.
.
And you know, Zendaya was in it just enough for me. Yes, let my good sis be arresting in your dreams, Timmy. Let her lead you to the light. To the side with the colored people. Come hither. 😂
The casting director was smart to cast her in this intimate, limited role because they KNEW they could send her ass off to serve looks on EVERY red carpet from here to France to promote it. And now I know why Denis fought so hard for a theatrical release. This film should be absorbed in a big ass theater with a big ass screen with trembling Dolby sounds and the feels and vibrating seats because, as I mentioned, Hans’ music hits you in your chest cavity.
.
My favorite sequence was when the Reverend Mother Mohiam (Charlotte Rampling) swung by the crib with her homies to test Paul’s Bene Gesserit skills with the threat of excruciating pain with his hand in the pretty box or death by the lethal dart needle thingy. The cinematography in the shots with the needle in Mother Mohiam’s hand next to Paul’s thin ass neck were chef’s kiss.
I just…
.
I also loved the continued focus back to the bull’s head and the bull fighting figurine during the first act’s transition from Duke Leto (Issac) to Paul as the Lord of House Atreides. Appreciated the symbolism. 👌🏾👌🏾
.
.
The film wraps up the story neatly, but I’m greedy. I want more. I know there’s more to be explored because it’s foreshadowed in Paul’s dreams and visions, although they were not always totally aligned.
.
I’m stimulated!
.
Imma probably see this film…
