Luca” was some mid, bruh. Almost painfully mid. 😑

Pixar is good as “coming-of-age” narratives, but recently their features have been trite and uninspired.

Mi è piaciuto molto (I liked it):

💖 the animation style…it was giving a bit of a “Dreamworks” staple animation style (at least for the past decade), but I liked. 🥰🥰 Nice little switch-up from convention.

💖 Disney & Pixar’s research and storyboarding department—they drill down on a setting and build upon it. I’ve never been to the Italian Riviera, but I’d bet assets that the film’s geography is rooted in reality.

💖 the variety of skin tones and hair textures for the human characters. Gorgeous. **chef’s kiss** It’s giving “history.” 👀😳😏 Storia.

💖 the closing credits animation. I wondered if it was an ode to a classic Italian animation style—lovely. 🥰🥰

💖 💖 💖 FAVE: the score—the film’s best element. Bello. 🎶🎵🎶

In un certo senso mi è piaciuto (In a way, I liked it):

🙂 sort of adored how they packed nearly every commercially-Italian thing into the narrative. Vespa 🛵, pasta 🍝, astronomy 🪐🌌🔭, espresso ☕ …no pizza though. 🍕 🍕 🍕

.

Non mi è piaciuto molto (I didn’t like it so much):

😬 the plot was too predictable.

😬 the screenplay felt dated and the joke repetition was 🥴🥴.

😬 the narrative dragged; the film felt longer than it was.
