Look, I really enjoyed this movie!
It was cheesy in the best possible ways. A well-developed, family friendly story, but there were moments where I (and the four other adults in this kiddo-packed theater) open-mouthed cackled at some of the quick jokes that fell on death’s ears for the youngins. There’s something for all to enjoy!
Great cast! I didn’t even realized until the conclusion that there was racially and ethnically inclusive cast! It was so sweet. ☺️ I love it when I don’t notice these things. The way the world should be.
Great screenplay too! You don’t need to know anything about Shazam!’s back story to enjoy this one. It was like someone took the first “Deadpool” script, and dialed back the vulgarity (majorly, like by a lot) and fourth-wall breaking. And voila! An appropriate children’s superhero masterpiece! And awesome direction by David F. Sandberg. Zachary Levi was the perfect choice for Shazam!
I’m really not mad at this one. I may even see it again.
